FIRE SAFETY AND RESCUE DRILL AT THE VOLT BUILDING - DA NANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
This annual activity plays a crucial role in ensuring fire safety at Da Nang International Airport, especially given the increasingly complex fire and explosion security situation.
In the drill scenario at 18:50, during shift handover, the on-duty staff discovered a sudden fire outbreak in the Current Control Room (Volt Building) and immediately activated the fire alarm and emergency alert protocol.
The Volt Building, which manages and coordinates electrical power, is one of Da Nang International Airport's most vital infrastructure components. Therefore, quick and effective response is essential to prevent serious property damage and the risk of fire spreading to other areas.
Upon receiving the fire alarm signal, the Chief Officer promptly contacted the Emergency Fire Brigade and medical teams to mobilize necessary equipment and personnel. Meanwhile, on-site staff cut power to the affected area, evacuated people and assets from the danger zone, and used local firefighting equipment to contain the fire while waiting for professional firefighters to arrive.
After receiving the report, the Emergency Fire Brigade arrived at the scene with three fire trucks and one emergency vehicle, along with modern rescue equipment. The team immediately deployed rescue forces to evacuate and assist victims, ensuring the safety of all staff in the danger zone while simultaneously establishing firefighting formations and cooling surrounding areas.
Following the drill, Da Nang International Airport leadership commended the responsibility and effort of all participating forces. They also requested all units to continue close coordination in enhancing fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue capabilities to ensure absolute safety for all flight operations at the airport.
Da Nang International Airport serves as a crucial aviation gateway for the Central region and welcomes millions of passengers annually, making operational safety its top priority. Therefore, fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue operations are not just the responsibility of specialized forces but require synchronized participation and coordination from all related departments.
This fire safety and rescue drill provided an opportunity for the Basic Fire Prevention and Fighting Force, specialized firefighting forces, participating units, and individual staff to properly understand the real dangers of fires, explosions, accidents, and incidents. It enhanced command organization capabilities and smooth coordination between forces in firefighting and rescue operations. The drill also tested and evaluated the effectiveness of established fire prevention and fighting plans while reviewing the usability of existing firefighting equipment and tools. This was also an opportunity for staff from related units to directly practice their response skills to fire, explosion, and rescue situations.
Da Nang International Airport confidently affirms its safety assurance capabilities and readiness to address all risks, contributing to building a safe and reliable working environment for passengers and staff.
