Welcoming Myanmar Airways International and the new Yangon – Da Nang route

Starting from April 2, 2025, Myanmar Airways International (MAI) will officially operate direct flights between Yangon and Da Nang. This new route marks an important milestone in strengthening connectivity between Vietnam and Myanmar, while fostering tourism, cultural exchange, and economic cooperation between two dynamic cities in Southeast Asia.

Flight schedule:
✈️ Arrival flight: 8M 454 (Yangon → Da Nang) – Departure at 16:30
✈️ Departure flight: 8M 455 (Da Nang → Yangon) – Departure at 20:00
📅 Frequency: Twice a week – on Wednesdays and Saturdays

This new route makes Myanmar the 8th out of 10 Southeast Asian countries to operate direct flights to Da Nang, alongside Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, and Indonesia. It also brings the total number of scheduled international routes to Da Nang to 16, with an average of 52 international flights arriving daily as of April 2, 2025.

As we welcomed the first flight of Myanmar Airways International to Da Nang, , Terminal T2 – Da Nang International Airport extended heartfelt regards and presented a donation of 100,000,000 VND to the Consulate General of Myanmar in Vietnam, as a gesture of support for the people of Myanmar following the recent earthquake on March 28. More than just a celebration of a new route, it became a meaningful occasion where care and friendship between the two cities were felt, especially during such a challenging time for Myanmar. We hope that Myanmar will soon overcome this challenging time and steadily recover.

Myanmar, located in Southeast Asia, is home to approximately 51.3 million people (2024), with around 89% of the population practicing Buddhism. Myanmar citizens often travel during April (Thingyan Festival – the traditional New Year), as well as in November and December, primarily choosing destinations within the region. The top 5 international destinations among Myanmar travelers include China, Thailand, India, Vietnam, and Singapore.

The new route not only offers greater convenience for passengers but also opens up exciting opportunities for collaboration between two rapidly growing cities.
