Da Nang International Airport holds farewell ceremony for the Buddha’s Relic returning to India

On June 2, 2025, Da Nang International Airport held a respectful farewell ceremony as the Buddha’s Relic returned to India. This marked the end of a one-month spiritual journey across Vietnam, one of the country’s most meaningful cultural and religious events this year.
The Relic, considered one of Buddhism’s most sacred symbols, was brought to Vietnam in early May by the Government of India, following an invitation from the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It was part of the UN Day of Vesak celebrations. Over the past month, the Relic was displayed in many provinces across the country. Da Nang was the final stop, where thousands of people came to pay their respects at Quan The Am Pagoda, a well-known Buddhist site in central Vietnam.
Normally known as a busy airport for travel and business, Da Nang International Airport took on a special role that day becoming the final link between Vietnam and this holy treasure.
From early morning, the international terminal was carefully prepared to create a respectful and peaceful space. Police, border officers, airport security, and ground staff worked together to make sure the ceremony ran smoothly and safely, without affecting regular flights. The Relic was then flown on flight KC 3809 back to its home in New Delhi.
This special moment showed that Da Nang International Airport is more than just a place for travelers. It is also a place where important spiritual and cultural connections can begin, bringing people and nations closer through peace and understanding.
